Hey Guys. I have a feeling that I'm too intense. I get so wrapped up in these things that I start to stress and lose my patience with people. And in this I'm afraid that I might become more closed minded. What's the best way to catch myself in this act and what do I do?
There is so much here that needs to be done, and the way I see it, it should not be too hard to get people to work together to make some of this stuff happen. But I'm met with adversity when I'm trying to help solve common goals. Why? |

Because people have egos. And egos differentiate themselves from other egos by opposing each other. Refuse to play the "ego game", and your problem is solved. When talking about such a logical and rational thing as a Technate, do only what is logical and rational, and refuse to act out of emotion. This should be the foundation of the Technate.
edit: BTW, sent you a PM. |

I think any attempt to create a Vulcan-like society would fail. |

Can I chime in here?
Huer: I think what might be happening here is that you have so much energy and are so eager to get *something* done, that you don't want to slow down and look at what we are trying to show you, which is that we have some common goals that we could work on together. I *appreciate* your level of energy and enthusiasm, but without properly channeling that energy, it will be wasted effort. |

I think any attempt to create a Vulcan-like society would fail. For people like me - there are non-emotional reasons - like material benifts that 'bind' me with the rest of the human race. For me the emotional reasons are negligible. I would for one love, to see a Vulcan-like society. I don't see how a technate is possible with people leaning towards the emotional. But as you pointed out such a Vulcan-like society is near impossible hence the pessimist in me thinks that a technate is probably impossible. p.s - I hope I'm not misunderstood - emotions are fine in certain walks of life and even desirable. But they are an unnecesary baggage especially when it come to technical decision making. |

Yes, emotions are fine in and of themselves. But when it comes to Technocracy, it is scientific by design, which means we have to be scientific when dealing with it. That's all I'm saying.

You're right, Patrick. And that is why I'm distracting myself with learning C#. I'm actually getting it right this time and making progress. Perhaps this time I'll get it figured out to the point I can use it. That would be so cool. I haven't made a serious commitment to learn a programming language for almost 20 years... 20 years? oh man...
Btw, Kenneth - what is your avatar a picture of? Looks like a pixelated walrus or something. |

Yeah, you got it right. Made it myself. Doesn't really have any meaning besides my love of video games and Eastern philosophy.
