Could we use moodle (moodle.org/) as the virtual study environment?

Perhaps there should be short assignments attached to each block.

I use a variant of Moodle for online universities courses I teach. It works pretty well and was easy to use. One caveat is that some implementations are quite slow-loading while others are quick. I don't know the specific reasons why.

I used proprietary blogging software (Typepad) for the unofficial online sustainability course I taught last year. It worked well enough for the limited needs of that course, and was fast-loading, but required much more initial set-up time to make it look and feel like an online course.
