I wonder how hard it would be legally to do what Second Life does with Linden Dollars convertable to real dollars ?

Having people convert their real money into virtual MMORPG technate style currency, AKA energy credits, could be a way to siphon people away from the price system, and test out local currency approaches in a virtual world.

It’s a long time ago I did this but as I remember it you have to pay people in coins of the real in the UK. Other than that I don’t think there is any restrictions of your own currency. There used to be quite a few of them in the 19th century but they mostly died out.
