TOPIC: What do the people want?

What do the people want? 4 years, 12 months ago #7399

One very important question which we must ask ourselves, is if ordinary people (workers and "the majority") want to have control of the means of production, or if they simply want a fairer share of the resources.

Even if they may hate a government or a leader, the majority seldom hate the hierarchic system in itself but just its representatives. You know the conception of the "good white king" and the "wicked black king" inherited from medieval Europe and the late Roman Empire.

They may want more influence or at least oversight over decisions as well, ut generally accept differences in social positions as long as they could survive and prosper.

Discuss.

I don’t think they want either. I think the evidence we have indicates that people just want to get on with their lives. The lives of most people centre on themselves, their family and their friends. They don’t see beyond their local social circle nor plan far ahead. So long as most people can get on with their lives they don’t care who runs the country or what system it uses.

I think they do care. They want free education and healthcare, and low taxes. That's why they frequently change the parliamentarian compositions. But when they are making their decisions, they are thinking about the well-being of their families.

Yeap, that's what I mean. They don't really think beyound that. Which is fine, that they way people work but we have to work with that as well when we think of the longer term.
