TOPIC: External resources

External resources 5 years, 11 months ago #1835

By setting up firms owned by the proto-technate, we would first build a surplus which we later on could use to acquire technology and know-how to launch the first eco-colonies. That is paramount. It is not our own, personal resources we are talking about, but the resources generated by capital generated by the proto-technate cooperative.

Though it will be our personal resources that are invested to start off the cooperative, else where is the money coming from

Do we have any thoughts yet what kind of companies we might be looking to setup owned by the proto-technate ?

Could I suggest a teleworking cooperative, simlar to;

Though not just limited to coding would be my suggestion.

Whilst a practical solution, not a legal one, if we don't stick to 100% legal then we are at real risk of being closed down and ending up in camp x-ray.

Finding lost treasure might be another solution.

Finance has always been an issue for organisations to go beyond a few interested parties, and everyone else has tried the easy routes of getting funds and other than a few apparent donations via wills, it would appear the only way for anyone to make a big splash is through old fashioned hard work to raise the funds.

The collapse of an unstable or war-torn society could also be "useful" for persuading talented people to come over to our side for the chance of starting something new.

In this way, I agree with your previous statement that in the proto-technate stage at least a strictly controlled immigration policy that only accepts top talent people and only a limited amount of unskilled people should be in place. Too many people who are only good at unskilled labour would put a drag on the resources available for putting in place the sophisticated, high-technology infrastructure that is necessary for technate to get started in the first place.

As historic examples, just think of the flood of the highly educated middle class German scientists that fled out of Germany after it became a Nazi regime. For a more recent example, Iraq used to be the most modern and secular of middle eastern states thanks mainly to it's educated middle class. This has changed as many of it's middle class people have fled out of the war-torn country and Iraq inevitably slips back to something more resembling a feudal theocracy.

People who tend to move tend to be the one who want to do something as well.

As for companies, I was thinking to start with we would need something that we can work on part time as non of us at this stage could go full time on this. I think it would also have to be ethical and environmentally friendly. I was thinking something like growing plants using hydroponics. Once its set up it runs it self and you don’t need to do much looking after. We could set up a small production to sell locally and then expand.

I’m doing some experiments with hydroponics at the moment but they’re not going too well. Give me a year or two and I’ll probably get it right.

What things could you grow that sell for high enough value to cover the electric costs of growing them ?

In the UK its become a very popular way to grow local cannabis;

I'm not sure what you might grow thats legal though, perhaps something used in medicine ?

Ah, now that’s part of the experimenting. What I’m trying to do is a system that doesn’t involved electricity. I’m using a sort of drip feed system with stones that have a high absorption rate. So, all I have to do is top up the nutrients once every two weeks.

Oh yeah, by turning your faith to Mammon, to Babylon! You should practice what you preach and live without money. At least that would be consequent.
